How do I get there?
We understand that navigating flights to Montenegro might be a bit (or a lot) confusing. To help you plan your journey, here are some suggestions on how to get to the hotels (see Accommodations) and make the most of your trip across the ocean. We hope these tips make your travel smoother and your visit to Montenegro even more memorable.
Fly to Tivat (TIV) ✈︎
Tivat Airport (TIV) is a small airport just 15 minutes from the wedding venue, making it the most convenient choice.
If you're flying into Tivat, a convenient option is to first travel to London, where you can stay overnight (or for a few days) before booking a connecting flight with easyJet. For example, there's a flight from London to Tivat on September 30, departing at 5:55 AM and arriving at 9:45 AM.
For the return trip, there are no direct flights from Tivat to London on October 4. We recommend flying back from Dubrovnik or Podgorica instead. However, if you're able to stay a little longer, there are flights from Tivat to London Gatwick on October 5 at 1:00 PM and on October 6 at either 10:05 PM or to London Luton at 12:10 PM.
Fly to Podgorica (TGD) ✈︎
Podgorica Airport (TGD) is Montenegro’s main international airport, about 90 minutes from the Bay of Kotor.
It offers more flight options than Tivat Airport, often at lower prices. One option is to fly to London first, then take a Ryanair or Wizz Air flight from London to Podgorica on September 29, stay overnight, and travel to the wedding venue by bus or taxi the next day.
For the return trip, Ryanair has a direct flight from Podgorica to London Stansted at 8:25 PM.
In addition to London, Ryanair also operates direct flights to and from Podgorica to Berlin, Brussels, Charleroi, Gdańsk, Kraków, and Wrocław.
Fly to Dubrovnik (DBV) ✈︎
Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) is closer to the Bay of Kotor than Podgorica airport, with a 1.5 to 2-hour drive. Since it’s in Croatia, you’ll need to cross the border into Montenegro, but it often offers more flight options and a scenic coastal route.
Flying to Dubrovnik probably offers you the most options of where to fly first. For example, RyanAir has direct flights to Dubrovnik from Berlin, Brussels, Charleroi, Dublin, Helsinki, London, Milan, Oslo, Paris, Rome, Stockholm, Vienna and other destinations. So it’s up to you what destination you would like to explore!
Besides Ryanair, you can find budget-friendly flights with Wizz Air, TUI Airways, Jet2, or easyJet.
General tip #1: You can often find great deals on bundled flights using Google Flights or Skyscanner—for example, Phoenix → NYC → Vienna → Podgorica. You can also plan a route that includes destinations you’d love to visit along the way! If you need any help, feel free to reach out to Masha at 602-737-8001. :)
General tip #2: If you're based in Phoenix or Las Vegas, consider driving to Los Angeles for your flight to Europe—LAX often has more flight options and better deals!
For example, Norse Atlantic Airways offers round-trip flights from Los Angeles to London, Paris, Rome, and Athens, with fares starting at $500.
General tip #3: Flying into a major airport hub like NYC and spending a couple of days there can sometimes lead to more affordable flight options.
